It is free to join Select Law. Simply complete our online registration form. Select Law will then send your firm an invitation to tender for matters suited to your practice (i.e. according to geographical area, practice areas and language) after which you can submit tenders for free.
Select Law Pty Ltd ("Select Law") is, to the extent applicable, bound by the National Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (as amended from time to time).
Select Law does not give out personal information about those seeking legal advice via the Select Law website ("Users") or Victorian law firms who are members of Select Law ("Firms") except as set out below.
"Personal information” is used below to refer to information or an opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained from the information or opinion.
Select Law, its servants, agents, contractors or employees may collect the following personal information from Users: contact details, email address, geographic location, description of legal problem, queries of and feedback given to Select Law, specific legal requirements and payment and case details.
Select Law, it servants, agents, contractors or employees may collect the following personal information from Firms: contact details, experience, affiliations, contact persons, email address, queries of and feedback given to Select Law, charge out rates, payment and quotation details.
Upon registration of a User or Firm, a cookie will be sent to new member’s computer. A cookie is a small piece of information stored on your hard drive which tells Select Law that your computer has accessed our website. Cookies can be rejected in most browsers if a User or Firm does not want information collected through the use of cookies. We note, however, that cookies may be necessary for a Firm or User to be able to access all of our online services.
Select Law it servants, agents, contractors or employees may collect the above personal information by, but not exhaustively, the following means: telephone, email, the Select Law website, meetings, fax, post or databases which are in the public domain.
Select Law is the entity collecting personal information. Personal information may also be collected by our it servants, agents, contractors or employees.

Personal information is held by Select Law either electronically, in hard copy or in voicemail recordings.
If a User does not provide all of the mandatory personal information when posting a case, he/she/it will not be permitted to post that case. Any incorrect personal information provided by the User may result in Select Law matching the User with a Firm not suited to the User’s needs, or no Firm at all.
If a Firm does not provide the mandatory personal information, that Firm will not be able to register and/or submit a quotation. Any incorrect personal information provided by the Firm may result in Select Law matching that Firm with unsuitable Users, or no User at all.
Any personal information we collect can be used for the purpose of providing our services, managing our relationship with Users and Firms, complying with laws, conducting marketing and promotions and performing other related functions or activities.
Personal information we have collected may also be used for a secondary purpose, ie, a purpose other than the primary purpose of providing our services. For example, we may use your personal information to notify you about other services Select Law may offer in the future. We would only use or disclose your personal information in this way if it is reasonable for us to do so, or if you have expressly consented.
Unless otherwise authorised or permitted by law, Select Law will only disclose a User’s personal information to Firms which have been invited to tender for that User’s particular matter.
Unless otherwise authorised or permitted by law, Select Law will only disclose a Firm’s personal information those Users which have received a quotation from that Firm. However, Select Law may disclose to the world at large that a particular Firm is a member of Select Law.
The Select Law website is professionally hosted and operates securely. While Select Law takes all reasonable steps to ensure that collected personal information is kept secure and that personal information is protected from misuse, loss, modification, unauthorised access, or disclosure, we cannot guarantee that information transmitted over the internet is completely secure. To that extent, Users and Firms transmit data including personal information via the Select Law site at their own risk.
Select Law will also take reasonable steps to ensure that stored personal information remains accurate, complete and up-to-date.
Users and Firms may review, and in some cases correct, the personal information they have provided to Select Law via the website, by logging into the website with their username and password. It is the responsibility of the User and Firm to keep their username and password secret. Users cannot amend a case once it has been posted, and Firms cannot amend a quotation once it has been submitted.
